Short biography

I was born in Santiago Chile in July 1975. I studied at the Department of Design, Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism, University of Chile from March 1996 to December 1999. The “design” I deal with is not the general design that can be categorized through shapes, systems, and fields such as architecture, the internet, graphics, and fashion. It is a more fundamental way of thinking and theory that is approached from psychological and sociological dimensions. In order to pursue this true design, I came to Japan in April 2003 and studied Japanese for one year. Then from April 2004 to March 2006 I obtained a Master’s Degree in the Master’s Course (Master of Arts and Engineering) Graduate School, Kyushu University, and from April 2006 to March 2009 I obtained a Doctoral Degree from the Doctoral Course (Master of Arts and Engineering), Graduate School, Kyushu University. After graduating, I worked as an Adjunct Professor at Sojo University beginning in April 2010. Then in April 2015 I took up my position as a Lecturer at the Faculty of Global and Science Studies, Yamaguchi University, where I have the students consider the essential nature of “design” while also actively working on fieldwork.

A Message to the Students

The message I would like to convey to the students is a pretty geeky expression, but it is my own personal motto.
“Do. Or do not. There is no try.” — Phrase quoted from Master Yoda in Star Wars
